We are so excited to announce our trip leader teams for summer 2019! We’re extremely proud that Bold Earth has one of the highest trip leader return rates in the industry—this year, it’s 65 percent. Every trip leader is certified, at minimum, as a wilderness first responder; senior trip leaders (at least one on every adventure) are additionally certified as lifeguards. Among our staff family, we have school teachers, experiential and environmental educators, nurses, rock climbing and whitewater rafting guides, and graduate school students. We receive hundreds of resumes each year, only to fill about 10 positions for new trip leaders.
Bold Earth trip leaders at a glance:
- Average age: 28
- Average Bold Earth tenure: 3.7 years (some have been with us for 16 years!)
- Return rate: 65 percent
- Each trip has one male trip leader and one female trip leader

On June 17, our senior trip leaders will gather in the mountains west of Denver, CO, where we’ll talk about leadership expectations, refresh Bold Earth policies and procedures, and go over management of group of students. Then the rest of our staff team will join our training, where we’ll go over the “big picture” of Bold Earth, including risk management, medical scenarios, student experiences, driving training, and much more. Everything we learn at orientation contributes to creating the magic of Bold Earth.
Our goal is to create the most balanced pairings possible regarding skill, experience, and personality. Though these leader teams are mostly finalized, please know that things may change before summer. If so, changes will be reflected on individual trip pages. As always, please don’t hesitate to call us at 303-526-0806 with any questions or concerns.
