Isabel L
Trip Leader: California Bold 1 & Costa Rica Active 2
Born and raised in Alaska, Isabel grew up exploring the outdoors with her family. With the ocean as her first true love, she spent a couple of summers working on tour boats in Kenai Fjords National Park. Ask her about whales and glaciers and she’ll happily tell you how both have influenced her life. This love of the natural world led Isabel to studying Geoscience and Environmental Studies at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. During university, she studied volcanoes in Hawaii, social work in Trinidad and Tobago, and environmental ethics in the mountains of Washington. After college, she moved back to Alaska, where she coached rock climbing and worked at a summer camp instructing biking and kayaking. She eventually chased the sun down to California, where she’s spent the last two years ski patrolling in Tahoe and leading outdoor education trips with schools across the state. Isabel has been trained as a wilderness first responder and is certified in CPR and can’t wait to lead trips with Bold Earth this summer!
