Sam S
Trip Leader: Ecuador and Galapagos 1
Sam grew up in rural Ohio before moving to Michigan to attend Calvin University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She was a counselor and nature specialist at a summer camp, which led her to organize backpacking trips for students all over the American West. She’s been a middle school teacher on Navajo Nation, a backpacking guide in Colorado, and an outdoor educator in China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Now, she teaches fourth grade in Montana while enjoying the rugged beauty of nearby Glacier National Park. Sam has been trained as a wilderness first responder and lifeguard, and is returning to Bold Earth for her eighth season.
