Sign up for a Teen Summer Adventure Camp in South Africa
Looking to spend your summer on an African travel camp? We have the trip for you! On this three-week African teen tour, you’ll explore South Africa, Mozambique, and Swaziland. We’ll begin in the township of Soweto, home to former president Nelson Mandela. During a bicycle tour, we’ll visit different historical sites and museums, and then we’ll spend time working with local schools and community centers.
We’ll get up close and personal with the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo) in Kruger National Park on a safari after visiting Jane Goodall’s Chimp Eden sanctuary. We’ll also interact with and feed African elephants in a Hazyview sanctuary before an afternoon of whitewater rafting.
We’ll immerse ourselves in the local culture of Simunye, Swaziland, and spend time with villagers making crafts to sell at the markets. Another safari in Hlane Royal National Park is sure to earn everyone views of more large mammals, including zebras and cheetahs. We’ll learn the methods of traditional Thonga fishing in Kosi Bay, home to abundant and exotic bird habitats, before spending a few afternoons snorkeling in clear waters.
We’ll wrap up our 21 days with a trip to the oldest nature reserve in the country, Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park, home to the white rhino, jackal, baboon, and much more. We’ll spend time at the Emdoneni Cheetah Project, a rehabilitation center for many big cats. We’ll spend time giving back to St. Lucia, a world heritage site, and then head to Durban for surfing and sea kayaking.
